Bösendorfer 170 Grand Piano – 1972 – Restored Black Polyester

A beautifully restored Austrian Bösendorfer 170 grand piano, dating from approximately 1972, with a wonderfully rich, warm and mellow tone. Available to view and play at Chiltern Pianos, Wendover, Buckinghamshire.

This exceptional Bösendorfer 170 grand piano represents the craftsmanship and musical character for which the prestigious Austrian manufacturer is renowned.

Measuring approximately 170 cm (5 ft 7 in) in length, this elegant grand piano offers a rich, warm and mellow sound, with the tonal refinement and expressive qualities that make Bösendorfer instruments so highly regarded by pianists.

Manufactured in Austria around 1972, serial number 29699, this instrument has undergone extensive preparation and refurbishment by our specialist piano technicians at Chiltern Pianos.

Restoration and Preparation

The original black polyester casework has been carefully stripped and professionally refinished, restoring its elegant appearance.

The original Renner action has seen relatively little use throughout the piano’s life. Our technicians have overhauled and finely regulated the action, including replacing felts and key facings, to ensure a responsive and consistent touch.

The strings have also been carefully cleaned as part of the piano’s preparation.

A Distinctive Austrian Grand Piano

The Bösendorfer 170 is an excellent choice for pianists seeking the musical qualities of a traditional European grand piano in a more compact size.

Its warm, mellow tonal character makes it particularly appealing for expressive playing, whether in a private home, music room or teaching environment.

With its beautifully refinished black polyester cabinet and carefully prepared Renner action, this is an opportunity to acquire a fine Austrian grand piano with considerable character.
